More Than a Changing Room: Arienti x Magic Mango's 'First Signs'

How a retail space, a campaign idea and a reworked brand mark came together to support breast cancer awareness.

"For a moment, an Arienti changing room became more than somewhere to try something on - it became a place to pay attention to something that matters."

At Arienti, women have always been at the heart of what we do.
That is why our partnership with Magic Mango on First Signs felt especially meaningful - a breast cancer awareness campaign that used an everyday retail environment to create a more immediate and personal reminder for women.

Taking Awareness Somewhere More Personal

Breast cancer awareness messages are often encountered in public spaces, but awareness does not always translate into action in the moment. Magic Mango identified a simple behavioural gap: women may see a reminder while they are out, but they are rarely in a position to examine themselves there and then - and by the time they are somewhere private, that reminder may be forgotten.

The idea behind First Signs was to move the message into what the campaign described as a more private public space: the Arienti changing room.

By placing the message where women already had privacy, the campaign turned a familiar part of the shopping journey into an opportunity to pause, pay attention and become more aware of their own bodies.

Bringing the Campaign Into the Arienti Identity

The collaboration did not stop with the physical space. For the campaign, we also adapted one of the most recognisable elements of Arienti itself - our wordmark.

The Arienti wordmark adapted to incorporate the breast cancer awareness ribbon.

Rather than treating the ribbon as a separate campaign badge, it was integrated into the construction of the logo itself. The pink breast cancer awareness ribbon was used in place of the primary vertical stroke within the 't', while the existing crossbar, handwritten character and overall silhouette of the Arienti wordmark were retained.

From a brand-design perspective, the objective was to introduce a highly recognisable awareness symbol without losing the visual equity of the original identity. The scale, spacing and flow of the wordmark remained familiar, while the pink ribbon created an immediate visual cue to the cause.

The result was deliberately restrained: a temporary identity adaptation that felt native to Arienti rather than an additional graphic placed beside it. For that moment, the campaign did not simply live inside our stores - it became part of the brand itself.

Creativity With Impact

For us, opening our doors to First Signs was about more than hosting a campaign. It gave our retail environment - and our visual identity - the opportunity to support a message that directly concerned the women we serve.

The campaign went on to become Magic Mango's most awarded campaign of 2024, receiving a Gold at the Dragons of Sri Lanka Awards, a Bronze at the Dragons of Asia, and one Gold and two Silver awards at 4AAF Sri Lanka.

As highlighted by Daily FT in its feature on Magic Mango's award-winning campaigns, First Signs was created for Arienti and centred on the impact of breast cancer in Sri Lanka. The feature also notes the hands-on effort behind the activation, with members of the Magic Mango Group coming together to install the campaign across our changing rooms.

The recognition is an important achievement, but what resonates most with us is the thinking at the heart of the work: using creativity, design and an existing customer touchpoint to make an awareness message more relevant, timely and actionable.

A Collaboration We're Proud to Have Been Part Of

Great collaborations happen when an idea, a brand and a space can work together with a shared sense of purpose.

Magic Mango brought the creative insight behind First Signs. Arienti provided a real-world environment in which that idea could meet women in a relevant, personal and immediate way. Together, the campaign demonstrated how even a familiar retail touchpoint can be rethought when creativity is applied with intention.

We are incredibly proud to have partnered with Magic Mango on a campaign that has since been recognised both locally and across Asia.

More importantly, we are proud that, for a moment, an Arienti changing room became more than somewhere to try something on - and our logo became more than simply our name. Both became part of a reminder to pay attention to something that truly matters.

Congratulations to the entire Magic Mango team on the well-deserved recognition - and thank you for making Arienti part of First Signs.
